How I work with clients
My clients are mainly Japanese speakers, who are seeking jobs in the US following internships. I build resumes in conjunction with my clients; I write/revise the resume while sharing the document with them on Zoom. I ask them questions such as what in the resume is the most significant thing to them, and I have them elaborate on it. This technique often gives many of my clients a sense of empowerment, which allows them to open up and feel comfortable talking about themselves. From there, my clients and I review each statement in the resume and adjust wording and layout. Though time-consuming, I find this process particularly important when helping clients who may hesitate to talk about themselves because of their cultural backgrounds. My motto is to not just teach my clients how to write American resumes but also to give them confidence as a professional in the process.
