This was our second NRWA conference and it was an exceptional experience. We were able to hold one-on-one discussions with many resume writers who are more experienced than we are and were able to take home some new ideas. We were able to learn more about the applicant tracking software and how to tailor resumes to make our candidates very strong. That has been very helpful to us and to our clients. The camaraderie was uplifting; we enjoy visiting with other professionals, learning what is new in the field, and renewing our energy.

The 2011 conference was my first, but the information sessions and connections I made were so valuable that I can’t imagine not attending in the future. At the 2011 conference I met another resume writer based just down the street from me here in Denver and we have been getting together and sharing business ideas, experiences and laughs ever since. The conference facilitated that connection along with several others with The NRWA members in my state, which has been such an amazing way to continue the learning that began at the conference. I am a human resources professional (in telecommunications) who has been writing resumes for 20 years, recently deciding to work on the NRWA professional credential. 2011 was my first participation in an NRWA conference, and it was a great experience! I now have a whole new stable of colleagues representing a wide variety of specialties who are so generous in helping me write the best resume possible. The knowledge I gained “liberated” me from some old fairly rigid ideas, freeing me to experiment and make unique design and content decisions based on individual circumstances. I have never been part of a professional association that is so willing to share information, trying to make us all better writers for our clients. Not a minute was wasted. And what a great group of people! Conference is fabulous!

The 2011 NRWA Conference surpassed all of my expectations. I very much enjoyed the opportunity to commune with my peers and learn about their business models. The accommodations and seminar facilities were top notch, as was the committee’s level of professional organization. The 2011 NRWA Career Conference in Maine was well-organized and full of interesting workshops, from “The Future of Work” to “Executive Resume Writing,” “Social Networking,” and “Creative Resume Formats.” I think it was the best yet! Wednesday evening’s reception with the “ice breaker” exercise was a great way to reconnect with colleagues and build relationships with new ones. All in all, it was definitely worth the investment!
